AfterPay
More than 4 million unique consumers in the Netherlands use AfterPay, but the payment method is also active in Belgium, Germany and other euro countries. The payment method is especially big in e-commerce and best represented in the fashion industry. Research has shown that online shoppers order more easily and much more when they can pay afterwards.
Offering a retrospective payment method has the advantage of not being dependent on when the consumer pays. The moment the order is completed, AfterPay performs a real-time risk check. This is how they determine whether the consumer in question may pay the order amount afterwards. Once the order is accepted - this happens in more than 90% of the cases - you as a merchant are guaranteed of payment of the order amount. AfterPay takes over the entire risk of non-payment (and even non-payment) by the consumer and guarantees payment.
Effective Oct. 4, AfterPay has announced it is changing its name to Riverty, referring to a healthy financial (river) flow. This provides AfterPay with the space to offer more payment and financial services in the future than just post-payment.
